OVERVIEW
2019 VW Arteon
Car brands use the word 'flagship' as a means to show off the best of what a brand can do. Whether that be performance, technology, or luxury, the flagship is meant to be the best of the best. The VW Arteon is the flagship of design for the German brand. This is a four door coupe that sits above the midsize Passat sedan. The Arteon is a new nameplate for the brand but it the spiritual successor to the CC. As a four door coupe, the Arteon features stylish design cues like the large grill pressed against the road with the long bonnet reaching its way back to the low, sleek roofline. Many four door coupes have framed doors to accent the sportiness of the vehicle and the Arteon is no exception.
The VW Arteon comes with one powertrain and trim level for the Canadian market. The sole trim level, the Execline, features the 2.0L turbocharged 4 cylinder engine producing 268hp and 258lb/ft of torque propelling the Arteon though VW's 4Motion all wheel drive system. The Execline trim is usually reserved as the top trim for VW models so it is fitting that this flagship comes in with that trim name. Two optional packages can be added onto the Arteon for additional technology and even sharper looks. The Driver Assist Pack includes the 360 degree gamer system, Lane Keep Assist and an Auto Park Assist feature. For an aesthetic upgrade, the Arteon offers the R-Line Appearance Pack to create an even more stylized vehicle. This package will add the gorgeous 20'' wheels, a different front bumper and R-Line dotted throughout the cars interior and exterior. From there, buyers will choose the exterior and interior scheme and if those optional packages are worth their while as the Arteon is already loaded with the latest technology and safety systems.
The equipment found on the Execline includes a heated steering wheel, heated front and rear seats, ventilated front seats, tri-zone climate control, adaptive cruise control, the large touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the Digital Cockpit. All of the equipment in the cabin is integrated seamlessly with a very low learning curve. A few other choice details inside include the analog timepiece in the centre of the dashboard and HVAC system that appears to be one flowing component.
There's so much more that needs to be shared with VW's flagship. It's a car that needs to be seen to be appreciated so head over to Country Hills VW in Calgary's northeast to see the first ever Arteon for yourself!
